One of the great things about living in the City of Olathe is the free concert series that goes on at Frontier Park. I’ve written about the Olathe free concerts before and it’s worth going back and reading those. Based on the past, the future looks fun!
Frontier Park is located on the south side of Indian Creek Parkway between Blackbob Rd and MurLen Rd. The park in and of itself is very nice. In any given season you’ll see kids playing lacrosse or adults playing softball. There is also a very nice playground for the young ones to climb on, swing on, jump from and pretend they are pirates!
But on five Friday evenings in the summer Frontier Park becomes an Olathe hotspot. (Is there such a thing in the burbs?) Last year my wife and I and sometimes the kids made it out to about three of the shows. Each and every one of us had a great time. There are so many of your friends and neighbors there. And so many people yet to meet.
There’s no alcohol allowed. That’s a bummer for me since I like a cold beer on a warm evening. But it is definitely in keeping with the family atmosphere the city establishes with plenty of fire fighters and police officers around. So I can live with that.
Many people do load up their coolers with drinks and sandwiches and make a whole evening out of the events. Still others use the very reasonably priced vendors there. (No. I’m not paid for this review. I’m just proud our city offers it.)
This year’s line-up looks dynamite. We’ll probably make it to about three again this year. But I’ll tell you what. No way I’m missing Delbert McClinton. Frankly I’m shocked he’s coming. Don’t tell anyone but I’d pay about $35 to hear him. If you haven’t heard him you’ve heard songs he’s written.
Delbert doesn’t get a lot of radio play. He’s country. He’s rock’n'roll. He’s definitely got the blues. He just doesn’t fit any stereotype. Come on out and enjoy. For free, you just can’t possibly be sorry.

[...] For those who live in Olathe I would invite you out to one of these concerts. They are great. See a full review of the Olathe free concerts here. [...]
Heading out there this evening for Sam Bush and Chris Hillman. Thanks for the info!
You are welcome. Enjoy.
